- Informed consent and confidentiality for all research involving human participants
- Approval of the Research Ethics Committee before data collection begins
- Honest recording, retention and reporting of data; fabrication and falsification are misconduct
- Declaration of conflicts of interest in funded and sponsored research
- Fair attribution of authorship based on substantive contribution
- Compliance with laboratory safety and environmental regulations
