From the first professional engineering college in the private sector of Pakistan to a chartered public sector engineering university.
Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET), Karachi holds the significant status of being the first professional college imparting engineering education established in the private sector of Pakistan. The foundation stone of the institution was laid in 1962 on New M. A. Jinnah Road, Karachi.
The College was established with the philanthropic support of the Dawood family and was later taken over by the Government, operating for decades as one of the principal sources of engineering manpower for Karachi's industry.
The institution was subsequently upgraded and chartered as Dawood University of Engineering & Technology, extending its offering from undergraduate engineering to postgraduate and doctoral study, architecture and planning, computing and management sciences.
Today the University operates two campuses, thirteen departments across four faculties, and a portfolio of research centres including ORIC, CEMET, the Business Incubation Centre and the Quality Enhancement Cell.
