Outcome Based Education (OBE)

DUET's engineering programs are delivered and assessed under the Outcome Based Education framework required by the Pakistan Engineering Council.

Under OBE, every program defines Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). Each course maps its Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) to the PLOs, and assessment instruments are designed to measure attainment of those outcomes rather than coverage of content alone.

Program Learning Outcomes (PEC 12)

  • Engineering Knowledge
  • Problem Analysis
  • Design/Development of Solutions
  • Investigation
  • Modern Tool Usage
  • The Engineer and Society
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Ethics
  • Individual and Team Work
  • Communication
  • Project Management
  • Lifelong Learning

How attainment is measured

  • CLO-tagged questions in mid-term and final examinations
  • Rubric-based assessment of laboratory work, design projects and final year projects
  • Direct attainment reports compiled per course, per semester
  • Indirect assessment through exit surveys, alumni surveys and employer feedback
  • Continuous quality improvement loops reviewed by the Quality Enhancement Cell
